The 582 powered Cosmos trike has a (5) vee-belt reduction to a wooden prop. Every time it flies I'm amazed at how much quieter and smoother it sounds than the conventional Rotax gearbox powered eqivalent. Makes my engineer's ears very happy.

'They are used quite heavily in Europe and there is a company called Silent Technic or something like that that specialise in this engine and its conversions, a fairly humourless guy, but there we go.'

Company is Silent Hektik - http://www.silent-hektik.com/

They do not do the aero conversion anymore - 'Too many broke engines!' was all I got from them.

TakeOff do the gearbox and electronics for the R1200 engine, I think it may fit the R1150 too, the latest gearbox being the GT3. Along with the ECU and loom that plugs straight into the BMW gear, the BMW canbus is not used, its a quality bit of kit. We'll see if its reliable later this year.
