    Membership & Election Shock

I'd like to request Members to open up the limited access section and read of the forthcoming Council election and the short list of candidates.

Today I was shocked on opening the Members only section of this forum to read that our BMAA Committee will now automatically have one at least of two forum banned trolls.

I have commented, but it all seems to be too late to do much.

Forgive and forget, life's too short.

There's an ignore button in forum software for a reason.

Always amazed that in a sport requiring a degree of personal courage and fortitude, when folk run around yelling whenever Mr Goddin slides a particularly vicious written barb in their direction.

As someone who has stumbled through the ranks of Engineering workshops and the like, his 'attacks' form a source of great personal amusement bordering on admiration; you might not like being the focus of his talent but by Goddin it rises to a high level of artistry. Brutal? Yes but ruddy good fun.

Why do types otherwise bright and brave enough to tackle this sport go all wobbly when he side-swipes them?

As for t'other chappy, something in my subconscious keeps him firmly but politely on the 'keep distant' list; don't know why but it is a business instinct that has served well so far.

    Council meetings will be interesting

Rick was keen to open up council meetings to observers... so could well be interesting to an audience! I got bored of the pedantry and the way threads dissolve into squabbles and lose any value they might have had. But asides that I come on here with my thick skin on )

I simply wonder if we are generally all spoilt Kindergaten kids who have not grown up... I have learned at age 76 to accept that there are people with different views to my own and let such provocative remarks, the 2 are accuse of, wash over me".

P.s. no need to flame, I shall as usual ignore it.

I can only approve. If a democratic process has placed council members who, it is feared, will upset the status quo then a significant percentage of the membership see that as necessary and have exercised their rights accordingly.

Here is the list of 5 nominees, for the four seats. Only one won't get elected.

    BMAA Council Elections 2012 - 2013

There were four places on the BMAA Council available for the period 2012 - 2013 due to existing members having to restand at the end of a three year period..

There were five nominations for Council membership received before the closing date, end of 27th August 2012.

As the number of nominations exceeds the number of places there will be an election following which the four candidates with the most votes will become members of the BMAA Council after the AGM on the 1st December 2012.

    Not at all Tom.
Of 4,000 members, only about 17% ever bother to vote, so hardly significant.

In this particular election, if any one of the five hadn't stood, the other four would join council automatically.
