When I renewed in 2012, I filled in the application form, sent it in with log book showing I'd flown in the period, and there was NO charge. New Licence returned in a few days. You MAY now have to have an English language assessment completed too.

This has been discussed many times on different fora. The consensus is you do NOT need to pay for renewal.

Mine was free...just had to pay the FRTOL instructor/examiner 10 to fill my forms in and carry out an English speaking test on me to make sure I can speak the Queens....
