  • Clipper vs Tanarg

Hi, anyone know what the difference is between the Clipper 912 and the Tanarg 912 trike? I've found very little on the internet. Also - can you put a Bionix wing on a Clipper and is there any disadvantage to doing this over a Tanarg trike?

    Thanks

There a load of stuff here guv, have you seen this? It's in French and you have to sign up for an account to download all the manuals.

    Air Creation technical manuals

The Clipper is no longer a current trike according to that page. I also assume there is no HADS for Clipper + Bionix.

clipper is based on the GTE trike, dressed up with some more glassfibre bits. The UK supplied Kiss400 and 450 and Ixess machines all use this base trike unit.

Air creation make all their wings to go on all their trikes, so it's possible to mix and match. for UK some paperwork would have to be done and maybe a tiny bit of flight testing - but essentially you could put a Bionix on any of the trikes that Flylight have supplied.

there is only 912 engined GTE / Clipper in the UK though - currently with an Ixess 15 wing on it. buying a new Bionix wing to put on an old 582 trike might be a strange thing to do..

Bionix can be put on any of he UK Tanarg trikes and that has already been done and cleared.

I have a spare Ixess 13 wing after re winging our Tanarg with a Bionix. the ixess13 would be a good wing to rev up a 582 trike currently with a Kiss wing, and we hope to do exactly that with our wing shortly.

        Hi Paul,

Did we speak about that spare wing at the NEC last year? Is it for sale?

Raises an interesting question for UK reg aircraft as the CAA register the wing as the aircraft so if you have two wings and 1 trike you have two aircraft registrations etc.

So does that mean the addition of a Bionix to any existing trike creates a new aircraft and new CAA regn costs and need for new log books etc?

If yes then does the existing wing taken off and now for sale come with the original log books and signed certificate of regn etc for the "aircraft" to be transfered to the new owner with the CAA and when the permit comes up the documents are complete to allow the inspector to do the busines?
