  • Radiator Cover - is it me?

So I've got a new radiator/oil cooler cover as the old one's old and gone saggy (no sniggering in the back row!)

But how the sodding hell do you put it on? The only way I can see is to remove the radiator (or at least one end) from its bracket - not too bad - AND remove the coolant and oil hoses from the same end - a bloody nightmare! All the fluids would go everywhere. I suppose it's do-able while you were doing a service that involved a full fluid change, but my coolant doesn't need changing for another 4 1/2 years as I did it last time.

Surely it'd be easier if the cover had a zip or Velcro? When I had a Blade, Mainair used a Velcro'd strap round the oiler cooler, so there was clearly no appreciable risk of it coming undone and going through the prop.

Dom, don't be silly. Replacing something that the factory put on, with a new replacement part from the same factory is not a mod.

Ah, yes, apologies! Anyway, it turns out P&M (factory part, so no mod required) DO do a separate cover just for the next-to-the-radiator oil cooler, which is Velcro'd in place. See the Quik trike illustrated parts guide, page 41, item 9:-

http://www.pmaviation.co.uk/download/upload_pdf/Quik%20TQuikTrikeIPC.PDF (copy 'n' paste, I'm afraid. I can't make the forum editing tools hyperlink this properly!)

So I've ordered one. I will still fit what P&M describe as the "main cover" (item 8 on the same page of the parts list), but it can wait until next service.
