  • Project EclipseR Rebuild has started!!

Just thought I'd post a few pics as I started re-building my EclipseR912 that I recently purchased.
Before I purchased her she had been sitting unloved for quite a number of years and was definitely showing her age. Everything was rusted up, and had a few structural repairs in the past - so a complete strip-down was totally justified!
I ended up opting for a brand new keel tube, having to rebuild and replace the inner sleeve of the RHS shock as well as the RHS strut.
She is now being treated to a complete nut & bolt rebuilt!

I'll update over the new few weeks as progress is made!

suggest you blank them inlet and ex. ports, before that missing washer / nut turns up when you go to start it ....

After 5mnths of hard work I finally have my new aircraft finished and re-permitted.
I purchased EI-ELL in May from a friend but she was in a very poor state of repair so I gave her a complete nut & bolt rebuild. Although the wing was in exceptional condition I ended up replacing lots of parts on the trike and now have her like new.
All I'm waiting for is my permit paperwork to come through so that I can get my 1st flight in her .

well done steve. Does it fly as well as it looks? Pity its not a 914 as the red rockers suggest.. That would give the wing plenty of ooomph
              flying is good for you!

Henry, I'm actually amazed at how well it flys and handles.
I wasn't expecting too much as I'd heard mix stories of the characteristics of the wing and that it would take me approx 10hrs to settle into it - But immediately I was in love with it's handling and the power that my '914' has!

I broke away from the vicinity of the airfield at the weekend and did a nice 2hr jollie - It motors along nicely at 70-75mph.

What is very addictive is how it lands as it turns amazingly fast and can just drop out of the sky with complete control so circuits can be extremely tight with very short finals and is on the ground in no time.

In saying all that It is completely different animal to my old Q2 winged Quantum with it's higher control bar and very heavy wing on the ground and could easy catch you out in a crosswind, so that's my plan for this week - practice crosswind landings until I'm able to nail it everytime!

But I think that I'm in love!!

                Cheers

                Steve.

Best wing in the world Steve. You won't want to go back to a Q2.
