    Mark,
Can be done without dropping pod etc:-

Withdraw the inner cable from the outer.
Obtain a 'dowel screw' (these look like a wood screw that has the screw on both ends) - can be made from ordinary screw by cutting off the non screw portion and filing a point on the non pointed end).
Screw the dowel screw into the inside of one end of the old outer and 'join' the new outer to the old by screwing it on the protruding end of the dowel screw (tightly).
Now simple ensuring there are no 'tie wraps' 'P' clips 'locking' the old outer run you very simply pull the new outer into position with the old one.

I have used this method many times and it has never failed!

Did both of mine last year with Mark from Galaxy Microlights.

Can easily be done in situ with no need to disturb the pod. One easy method is to thread the new inner through the old outer until it is in place then slide the old outer off it and the new one on. Sounds daft but works like a charm.

If you don't like that idea slide the old outer off and the new one on then pull out the old inner and put the new one in. Simples!
