  • Mandatory Permit Directives (MPDs)

    The primary source for all mandatory permit directives is via Civil Aviation Publication No. 661. CAP 661 is updated every 6 months and any MPDs awaiting incorporation are listed on their website prior to incorporation. BMAA members are encouraged to subscribe to the CAA Publication Subscriptions Notification Service by ticking the box for 'Aircraft Maintenance' or 'All Publication Categories' to receive a regular reminders from websitenotification@caa.co.uk

    Mandatory Permit Directives (MPDs) are published by the Civil Aviation Authority in accordance with British Civil Airworthiness Requirements (BCAR) Chapter A5-8. They summarise the mandatory actions that are required to be complied with by UK Owners and Operators of Permit to Fly aircraft. CAP 661- "Mandatory Permit Directives" contains all issued MPDs and can be found at:

    Proposed MPDs, or PMPDs, for products of UK design are available for review and comment. The closing date for comments is stated at the end of the PMPD. Comments should be sent to the AD Unit .
